2004 Scientific Symposium Accreditation and Hour Designation

Physicians: This activity has been planned and implemented with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of Texas Medical Association and the Children's Environmental Health Institute. The Texas Medical Association is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Texas Medical Association designates this educational activity for a maximum of 12 hours in category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the activity. The Texas Medical Association has designated the topic "Ethics in Environmental Health Issues" for 1 hour of ethics and/or professional responsibility education.

Nurses: We are working on obtaining approval from the Texas Nurses Association through The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. However, if time does not permit, nurses can still claim 10 credits of type two from the program for license renewal.

Social Workers: This education program offers up to 12 Social Work Continuing Education Contact Hours. The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is an approved provider of social work continuing education by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners.

Sanitarians: Sanitarians may earn up to 12.25 contact hours.
